EVO is the biggest fighting game event in the world. Yes, people are competing, but it’s also become a platform – and a general timeframe – to launch some of the biggest fighting game news. Even if you’re not at EVO, all eyes are on the genre, so it’s a good time to launch an announcement from home.

If you weren’t able to keep up with the event then you have a lot of games and sets to catch up with, but before all of that, you can look over a breakdown of every single fighting game announcement that happened over the EVO 2025 weekend.

Street Fighter 6: C. Viper teaser trailer

C. Viper is the next character to get added to Street Fighter 6 following Sagat, and her debut trailer shows off her World Tour integration, and her research of M. Bison’s combat abilities. Her character model looks amazing, and we get a brief tease of the kind of electrifying abilities she’ll have in the game later this Autumn.

Street Fighter 6: Swimsuit costume showcase and release date

In addition to C. Viper, we also get to see the previously announced swimsuit costumes in-game, and they’ll be launching on August 5.

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls: Closed beta announced

The most exciting fighting game of generation so far, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is coming in 2026, and this September we’ll be able to play the game for ourselves in a Closed Beta. The beta runs September 5-7, and as long as you’ve signed up for the PS5 Beta Program, you’re in for a chance to play it yourself.

Guilty Gear Strive: Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ Lucy gameplay reveal trailer

Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners gets her first gameplay trailer, and she looks incredible. Edgerunners’ artstyle matches beautifully with Guilty Gear Strive, and she seems like she’ll be a Season Pass 4 seller. The Cyberpunk-inspired UI on her attacks is a very cool touch. You can play as Lucy on August 21.

Guilty Gear Strive: GGST 2.0 coming 2026

Guilty Gear Strive 2.0 is coming in 2026. This is likely to be an “Xrd Revelator”-style release, complete with existing content and a major balance overhaul. We’re excited to see more next year.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2: Major Title Update coming in August

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is getting a major update, adding four new characters to Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, and a new Mode Select function. Plasma Sword is also getting a new Combo Route Display function to make training mode easier. And yes, there’s new artwork and remixes, making this already fantastic package even better. This update drops on August 7.

Tekken 8: Armor King and Miary Zo coming soon

Armor King is coming to Tekken 8, and he’s got a big gameplay trailer to announce his arrival, and you’ll be able to play Armor King on October 13 for early access players, and October 16 for general release. His trailer also introduces the new character, Miary Zo, from Madagascar. She’ll be bringing her Baobab Horizon stage with her in Season 2.

Virtua Fighter 6: First Training Stage gameplay trailer

We’re getting a little bit more gameplay footage from Virtua Fighter 6, and this teaser trailer showcases the Training Stage, in addition to an awesome slow-mo KO animation.

Virtua Fighter 5 REVO World Stage: Coming to consoles in October, Switch 2 later

Virtua Fighter 5 RECO World Stage is bringing full crossplay to every platform with rollback netcode. It launches on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles on October 30, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming later. Steam players will get this version as a free upgrade to their existing game.

Invincible VS: Omni-Man reveal trailer

We get a closer look at Invincible VS with a trailer dedicated to Omni-Man’s techniques and combos. This game has nice, lengthy aerial juggles that should make any tag fighter fan excited. Invincible VS is coming in 2026.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising: Wilnas and EX Characters coming in August

Wilnas is finally coming to Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising on August 5, and EX Characters are also making their debut with combos that were previously impossible. 

Netcode Warriors: New arena fighter revealed

Netcode Warriors is a fun looking arena fighter being developed for PCs via Steam, and while the gameplay we’ve seen is clearly early, there’s a lot of promise for arena fighter fans looking for a more competitive experience.

Fatal Fury City of the Wolves: Street Fighter’s Ken available now

Ken Masters, Ryu’s legendary rival, has made his debut in Fatal Fury, and he’s available to play in City of the Wolves right now. Chun Li will make her in-game debut in Winter 2025 as part of Season Pass 1.

Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes: Izumi reveal trailer, coming in August

Izumi has been revealed for UNI2, and she attacks her foes with a magical fish. Hell yeah. She’s available to play on August 19.

Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact: Season Pass 1 roadmap dated

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is moving forward with Season Pass 1, which adds fan-favorite characters like Neferpitou to the game. The other characters are silhouettes for now, but it doesn’t take a HxH mega-fan to figure out who these three are.
