Factorio Switch 2 upgrade and Space Age DLC aiming for December release date
By Marco Wutz

Factorio is set to receive a free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade later this year, giving owners of the Switch version a technically improved edition for the newer console. The Space Age DLC has been announced to come to Switch 2 as well. The expansion is currently not available for the Switch due to the platform’s technical limitations.
The Switch 2 version of Factorio will support a native 1080p resolution in handheld mode and up to 2160p (4K) in docked mode, offer variable refresh rate support for the console's screen, bring some higher quality animations and sprites to the table, feature faster loading times, and expand the limits on base sizes. You can also use the Joy-Con controllers as a mouse to play the game.
Space Age, the developer explained, will cost $35 USD on the Switch 2 and be identical to the version released on PC — no cuts or feature trims were necessary. In the developer’s tests, the Switch 2 was good enough to “finish Space Age while maintaining 60 UPS and 60 FPS, if you build reasonably.”
Wube Software stated that it aims for a release of the Switch 2 upgrade and Space Age DLC in December 2025, but didn’t want to promise anything due to Nintendo’s complicated certification process potentially delaying the launch.
