The next mainline entry in the Fire Emblem series was revealed in today’s Nintendo Direct. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave shows a lot of promise, especially if you were a fan of Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Not only is it believed to be developed by the Three Houses team (being made alongside Engage), but it appears to be set in the Three Houses universe. Exactly in what capacity remains to be seen, but there were several scenes that featured Heroes' Relics and Crest Stones, which were part of that game’s lore, not to mention the biggest surprise at the end, which shows a more mature version of Sothis, the deity that guides the player throughout Three Houses.

We’ve got glimpses of grand cities and a colosseum, but this world is bigger than that, and the trailer suggests that we’ll be following the stories of multiple protagonists, with several characters getting featured and explaining the overview of their stories as they all vie for some grand prize. Given that Three Houses is known for its branching paths and narratives, it’s possible this game could be taking that even further.

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026.
