If the long wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is starting to drain you after the recent delay, then maybe news of a Grand Theft Auto 4 remaster will brighten your day?

A brand new port of GTA 4 just might be on the way this year, and this info comes courtesy of Rockstar “insider” Tez2 on the GTA Forums (via Eurogamer).

Tez2’s full statement reads as follows:

“Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should've gone up a year in development. We may end up seeing it drop later this year. And it's one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down. If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they'll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.”

The “LCPP mod” that was mentioned refers to the Liberty City Preservation Project, which was a fan-made recreation of GTA 4’s Liberty City in GTA 5. It seems Rockstar squashed that project in order to ensure that a true remaster of GTA 4 felt fresh and exciting.

We were already aware of remakes of the first two Max Payne games coming from original developer Remedy Entertainment, but news of a Max Payne 3 port is new and exciting. Having the full trilogy available to play on modern platforms is a dream come true for die-hard fans.

This is great news for fans eagerly awaiting GTA 6’s release, but the wait will be worthwhile. The game will be a showcase for some of the best visuals in the industry when it releases on May 26, 2026, and we have a breakdown of the wild tech details you missed from the new GTA 6 trailer.
