Super Earth itself is Helldivers 2’s next battleground in the Heart of Democracy update
By Marco Wutz

The next mega event in live-service shooter Helldivers 2 has arrived: the Illuminate invasion of Super Earth. Following a series of events humankind inflicted upon itself thanks to fascism, the aliens have finally reached the heart of the human empire and started laying its capital to waste.
Helldivers must now fight inside the cities of Super Earth itself — the most intense bout of urban combat the game has offered to date. Similar to previous campaigns, players worldwide have to work together to keep up the pressure on the invaders and push back their forces, driving them off of their bridgeheads on the planet’s surface.
There are some subgoals to assist with that: Super Earth boasts respectable firepower in the form of planetary defense cannons, but they are yet to be activated. Helldivers can complete missions associated with this objective to make trouble for the Illuminate fleet in orbit.
Nor are Helldivers the only defenders of Super Earth. Missions on the planet will feature allied NPCs of the planetary security forces, who fight invaders independently from the players, but can be commanded to join the ranks of the Helldivers as backup — likely of temporary nature, given the death rate.
Naturally, the loyal citizens of Super Earth are still present in the ruined streets and houses of their cities and Arrowhead has reminded players that civilian casualties will be punished, so it might be best to not be too hasty with the trigger finger.
Accompanying this major content update are some fixes to crashes that were related to the new weapon customization system and Illuminate units. The drone stratagem should be fixed, too, so drones should return to your backpack as intended. Oh, and enemy corpses won’t yeet you over the entire map anymore.
