Insomniac’s Wolverine game gets an explosive first gameplay trailer and release date
By Dave Aubrey

The long awaited – and previously leaked – Wolverine game from Marvel’s Spider-Man developers Insomniac Games finally has a brand new official gameplay trailer, in addition to a release date.
Announced at a PlayStation State of Play showcase ahead of Tokyo Games Show 2025, Marvel’s Wolverine is set to release in Fall 2026.
The gameplay showcases a bunch of short combat clips, in addition to some truly impressive visuals on Logan’s face and, most importantly, his claws.
The gameplay trailer ends and moves on to a conversation with the developers and actor behind Logan, Liam McIntyre, an Australian actor known for Spartacus: Vengeance, and has previously appeared in games such as Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
The trailer is action-packed, and gives us a few glimpses of other Marvel heroes and villains that Logan will interact with over the course of the game, including Sentinel and Omega Red.
The combat looks just as bloody and action-packed as you’d expect, with all the flair of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, but far more gory and visceral while staying grounded.
The game was originally announced during a State of Play showcase back in September of 2021 — a full four years ago. Five years between announcement and release feels like too long, but at least it’s not as bad as Cyberpunk 2077.
The studio suffered a severe hack in 2023, and an early playable portion of the game was leaked online in addition to assets.
Wolverine and Spider-Man aren’t the only Marvel heroes appearing on PlayStation soon, as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was announced earlier this year.
We’re excited to see how the game turns out, but we’ll be waiting a whole year – until Fall 2026 – to see for ourselves.
