NEXON’s popular mobile racing title KartRider Rush+ is kicking off its latest season update with an unlikely collaboration — the game is teaming up with the Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police.

The team-up is supposed to help the police’s “Campaign to Promote Traffic Order” and nudges players to follow and promote safe driving habits. In the game, they can complete missions and earn cosmetic items inspired by the police, such as a traffic wand and sirens. Shards to earn the special items can be obtained until Aug. 17.

All players automatically receive a themed standee for their in-game homes along with an emoji and a balloon.

KRR+ is the latest mobile adaptation of the KartRider series, which itself is heavily inspired by Nintendo’s legendary Mario Kart franchise, and one of the biggest South Korean video games. Two weeks after its launch, the game had already been downloaded over ten million times. In 2020, over half of the entire South Korean population was registered for the PC version — so there’s a good reason for Gyeonggi Bukbu Provincial Police to choose this of all games to help with its public awareness campaign.

Fortunately, players still won’t have to obey traffic laws in the game.
