Mega Malamar revealed for Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Malamar is the latest Pokémon to have a new Mega Evolution revealed for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. This reveal has been teased all week on Pokémon’s social media channels, with various video clips of people talking about how much they love Malamar, alongside the “My Friend Malamar” branding.

In the short reveal vignette, we saw a news report talking about these people, and explaining that it’s because a Mega Malamar has been using its hypnotic powers to make people obsessed with it. Eventually, we got a look at it properly. Its body is much smaller than a regular Malamar, with its arms stretching out into much longer tentacles, while the tentacle hair on its head gets bigger. Its hypnotic glow has also changed color, to be a rainbow glow instead of a golden one.

Malamar joins Hawlucha, Victreebell, and Dragonite as the Pokémon with new Megas revealed so far, but there are sure to be several more to come, no doubt being revealed in the coming weeks as we build up to Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s launch on October 16, 2025
