Minecraft's next update is adding a previous mob vote loser
By Ryan Woodrow

Mojang has given us the first look at what’s going to be added in the next content update, and among some items with questionable uses, it adds something we weren’t sure we’d ever see – a previous mob vote loser being added to the game.
Ever since we started getting smaller Minecraft content drops instead of big annual updates, the reception to each one has been a lot more positive from the community, as it’s allowing Mojang to work on features that didn’t feel big enough for a landmark update, and now we’re getting something else fans have been clamouring for.
This next content drop will center around copper. While it’s a cool-looking decorative block, copper has been relatively useless in Minecraft compared to how much of it you’ll find when mining. Loads of players now just have chests full of copper that they never have any plans to use, and this update finally remedies that. Alongside the addition of copper tools and armor, we are now getting a previous mob vote loser being added to the game: The Copper Golem.

The copper golem will help you sort the items you place in copper chests into other chests around your base! You can also test copper tools, weapons, and armor today in Bedrock… pic.twitter.com/QkshctWon7
In the original Mob Vote, this mob’s function was to randomly activate Redstone buttons, letting you add random elements to your contraptions. However, it has now been dramatically reworked and essentially functions as an item sorting machine.
You can summon a Copper Golem by placing a carved Pumpkin on a Copper Block. It will summon both a Copper Golem and the new Copper Chest item, which is an important part of the golem’s functionality. If you place items in the Copper Chest, the golem will take the items out of it and sort them into any chest within a 32-block radius that already contains that item, neatly stacking them for you.
This means that you no longer need massive systems for automatically sorting your items, you can just dump them all in a Copper Chest and let your golem take care of it all for you.
There’s no word on when the content drop is set to be released just yet, and we may see more cool features announced before then, so keep checking back for more updates. In the meantime, you can try out these features in Bedrock Edition by enabling previews.
