Nintendo confirms Gamescom 2025 appearance

Not a massive surprise, given that it has a console to market.

Nintendo has officially confirmed that it will come to Gamescom 2025, being the first of the ‘Big Three’ to do so — Microsoft and Sony remain uncommitted at this point.

The Japanese manufacturer and developer last attended Gamescom in 2023 with a presence on the showfloor, skipping both 2022 and 2024. While the company indeed wouldn’t have had much to show off in the previous year, this couldn’t be less true of the ongoing year: With the Switch 2 launching on June 5, 2025, Nintendo has brand-new hardware and games for it to market, making the world’s biggest video game convention a natural stop.

"Mark it red in your calendar: Nintendo is at Gamescom once again in 2025," the company's German social media account posted. "We're looking forward to seeing you in Cologne from August 20 to 24."

While Nintendo has been in and out of Cologne depending on its current catalog, Microsoft has been a steady guest these past few years. Sony, too, has been consistent — in staying away. With Nintendo confirmed to attend in 2025, fans can already look forward to a pretty big hitter bringing fun games and merchandise to the showfloor.

Naturally, the exact line-up of games and activities planned for the event is not yet clear, though a look at the confirmed Switch 2 titles likely reveals a few hot candidates.

Gamescom takes place from August 20 to 24, 2025, in Cologne, Germany. Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live will kick off the festivities on August 19 with the traditional showcase that focuses on games at the exhibition.
