Persona 5: The Phantom X Version 1.2 patch notes

We’ve barely had time to settle since the last one, but the next P5X update is already upon us, with the v1.2 update bringing us new story content and one of the more sought-after characters on the P5X banner schedule. As the global version of the game is racing to catch up with its Chinese counterpart, these updates are going to keep coming in thick and fast, so we’ve put together these patch notes to make sure you’re up to speed on everything being added to the game in this update.

New limited-time banner – Fox/Yusuke Kitagawa

A new member of the original Persona 5 cast is joining the game in this update, with Fox being available in a limited-time banner from now until August 21. So he’ll be sticking around for a similar time to Joker, meaning you’ve got a while to get him. Fox is an Ice-element Sweeper-class unit, meaning he specializes in dealing heavy damage to all foes at once.

Crossroads of Fate Chapter 2 begins

While there’s no main story content in this update, we will see the start of the next arc of the Crossroads of Fate story, which sees the P5X cast crossover with the P5 cast as they infiltrate Palaces based on those from the original P5. As you’d expect, this one will center around Madarame’s Museum and heavily involve Yusuke, who is joining in this update. It will be divided up into chapters that will become available gradually over the coming weeks, with the second half coming in the v1.3 update.

Sinners of Vanity and Gluttony boss challenge

A new limited-time battle mode is being added for this update that will let you take on Palace bosses at varying difficulty levels for a bunch of rewards, including exchange tokens and upgrade items. One of these bosses is confirmed to be Madarame from the end of this Crossroads of Fate chapter, but the second remains to be seen.

Relativity’s Labyrinth challenge mode

Also being added as a limited-time mode is Realitivities Labyrinth, a mode that will see you navigate through a maze-like realm in the Metaverse, earning rewards based on how quickly you find the exit and how many of the special coins you pick up along the way.

Joker and Fox special outfits

The first two special character outfits will be available in this update, and this is where global players get a rare advantage over the Chinese version of the game. In the Chinese version, these outfits were released as limited-time gachas, but in the global version, they will be permanently available and unlockable via Meta Jewels. Joker and Fox are the first two characters to receive these outfits, with more to come in future.

Expanded Synergy Bonds

P5X’s Synergy Bonds continue to expand in this update. While there are no new characters to bond with in this update, Shun Kano’s storyline is getting an expansion, plus you can now go on dates with the handful of romancable characters in P5X once you’ve progressed your bond far enough.

10 free Platinum Contracts and Milicoins

There has been some controversy around P5X as of late, as global players feel hard done by compared to the bonuses Chinese players have received. Some measures have been introduced in this update to change this, like a boost to the number of gems received after updates, but as a bit of a peace offering, 10 free Platinum Contracts and Milicoins will be given out to all players via the in-game mailbox once this update is live.

It’s not the biggest of gifts, and there are definitely still issues that need to be ironed out, but this is a nice little something in the meantime.
