Persona 5: The Phantom X / Atlus

P5X Version 2.3 is here, and we can finally move on with the game’s main story, as the second of four phases has been released with this update. Fans can also finally rejoice as the alenrate 110 banner system is being implemented with this update, meaning you can now spend fewer contracts/jewels to guarantee the game’s best pulls.

We’ll break down everything added in this update, including the new Phantom Idol, with our full patch notes for update 2.3.

Main Story Chapter 3 Phase 2

The big ticket item in this update is part 2 of 4 for the latest chapter of the game’s main story. Here you’ll get a chance to dive deeper into the latest Palace as you uncover more of the secrets surrounding its strange setup. Plus, a new area in Mementos has been unlocked to explore, and a new set of quests has been added so you can earn even more Meta Jewels and Joy Medallions.

New Phanom Idol – Kira Kitazato (Messa)

Persona 5: The Phantom X / Atlus

Our new 5-star Phantom Idol is Kira Kitazato, codename Messa. He is a powerful Assassin unit that uses physical attacks to deal big damage to his foes. He’s a little bit Mr Jekel and Mr Hyde, as he can switch between Doctor mode, who inflicts Bleed on opponents, and Ripper mode, who uses those Bleed stacks to deal big damage.

Returning Phantom Idol – Yui (Bui)

We’re also getting the latest re-run for a limited-time banner, and this time it’s Bui. This Electric-based DPS is all about causing death by a thousand cuts, as they can assign an ally to be their “Player 2” and will perform follow-up attacks every time they perform an action while providing a buff. If you missed Bui the first time around, now is your chance to get your hands on her.

New Contract system – 110 Banners

After ages of asking, the new banner system has finally been implemented. Now, when pulling on a 5-star banner, you can choose between the “Chance” or “Targeted” contract. We provide a full explanation in our P5X Chance vs Targeted contract guide, but the short version is that Chance is the old odds system, while Targeted contracts guarantee the “Most Wanted” character in 110 pulls.

Synergy Bond updates

After the first half of his story being added in the previous update, Version 2.3 sees Kira Kitazato’s synergy bond storyline completed, and you can now increase your bond with him all the way up to Rank 20. See our P5X Synergy Bond guide for more details on how to do that.

City Life updates

Several City Life activities have just received a boost in this update. Band Club now has more tracks added, so you can play more of the game’s surprisingly difficult rhythm minigame. New movies have been added to the theatres in Yongen-Jaya and Shibuya to help you boost your social stats, and finally, there are more Capsule Machine sets for you to spend your Yen on.
