A new grand strategy game is on the horizon.

Paradox Interactive is ready to unveil its next grand strategy game: ‘Project Caesar’ – such is the codename for the game – will be revealed on May 8, 2025, during a developer livestream.

The upcoming game is being developed by Paradox Tinto, the publisher’s Spanish dev studio. Consistent developer diaries have kept fans informed about Tinto’s activities since February 2024, which includes early screenshots from the game and deep dives into its systems and background. Paradox Tinto has been working on expansions for Europa Universalis 4 so far, making ‘Caesar’ its debut title in terms of major releases. Publishing consistent diaries and interacting with the community has given the developers a chance to gauge feedback early, reacting immediately to anything that caught their attention and integrating any cool ideas.

Though you’d be excused to think that ‘Caesar’ denotes a game set in Ancient Rome, you’d be misled. Paradox names all of its upcoming titles after Roman leaders internally. ‘Titus’ became Crusader Kings 3, ‘Augustus’ became Stellaris, and ‘Sulla’ was Imperator, to name a few. No, ‘Caesar’ starts us off in 1337, which is an interesting date for many reasons and will provide plenty of entertainment.

‘Project Caesar’ comes with all the trappings of a Paradox grand strategy game — you can read up on all of them in-depth by diving into the diaries: It encompasses most of the world, there will be pops to manage, wars to fight, religions to spread, and intrigues to spin. It’s an ambitious title, to say the least, very much deserving of the ‘grand’ in grand strategy.

Tinto’s developers are going to guide fans through all the important bits and pieces of ‘Caesar’ in the coming week on YouTube.
