HoYoverse reveals Phainon for Honkai: Star Rail 3.4

The Nameless Hero finally joins the fray.

Phainon will come to the Honkai: Star Rail 3.4 banners, HoYoverse has confirmed. He will be a 5-Star character following The Destruction and dealing Physical DMG.

Phainon has been indicated to be the key character of the ongoing story on Amphoreus, as both its hero and its antagonist, given the parallels between him and the Flame Reaver.

The lore that came with his reveal hints at this duality as well: “Nameless hero, the Chrysos Heir carrying the Coreflame of ‘Worldbearing’, you must memorize the ideals of all worlds, carry the fate of multitudes, and bring the first light of dawn to the new world — ‘But should dawn have never existed, let the fires of rage burn this body to ashes and transform into the blazing sun of tomorrow!’”

The Amphorean script on the announcement artwork spells out “Did you see? Amphoreus has ushered in the dawn.”

While we don’t know exactly how that will play out in the story, it seems like Phainon will indeed bear Kephale’s Coreflame, but won’t reforge the world from his memories to begin yet another cycle of history. There are obviously some parallels between him and Honkai Impact 3rd’s Kevin as well — someone who goes down the wrong path with the right intentions.

Version 3.4 of Honkai: Star Rail is set to be released on July 2, 2025. The upcoming characters for this update include Archer and Saber from HSR’s Fate UBW collaboration, which is going to kick off on July 11, 2025.

First, though, we’ll learn all about the preceding update in the HSR 3.3 livestream.
