The final milestone ahead of Version 1.0 has been reached.

The Settlers-esque city-builder Pioneers of Pagonia has overcome its final milestone ahead of Version 1.0’s launch on December 11, 2025, by releasing a map editor for the community.

We had the opportunity to get a look at the powerful tool – the same Envision Entertainment is using in-house – at Gamescom 2025, where Envision chief Volker Wertich presented it. Users can customize certain parameters, such as where NPC factions should start, where resources should be placed, where a mountain range should appear, and so forth. The terrain and assets are then created and placed by the tool, using the methods it usually uses when procedurally generating maps.

Since this is one of the major timeskins when creating maps in any game the automation saves players a ton of time.

Players can upload, share, and play custom maps directly in-game thanks to mod.io integration.
