Dataminers have made a major discovery in the Pokémon GO files after the most recent update, finding a mechanic called Hyper Training. According to the texts the dataminers could dig up, Hyper Training enables players to increase the stats of a Pokémon to the maximum if they can fulfill a set of conditions over the course of one year, which is the maximum duration the training lasts.

Using an item called Silver Bottle Cap allows players to engage in Hyper Training for a single stat, while the Gold Bottle Cap enables them to raise all three stats of a Pokémon.

This would open the way for players to create their own “hundos” – Pokémon with maxed stats – out of monsters that are currently weaker. Have that one Shiny Legendary you caught during an offline event and have great memories of, but its stats are so bad you can’t really use it? Well, a bit of Hyper Training could change that and transform the beloved weakling into a powerhouse.

Further details uncovered by the dataminers suggest that players need to reach Good Buddies rank with the Pokémon to be trained as a starting condition as well.

The potential quests for Hyper Training are not uncommon when you compare them to regular Research Tasks: Players need to play with the Pokémon every day, use it to defeat GO Rocket members, hatch Eggs while it’s their buddy, and so forth. The trickiest might be to win matches in GO Battle League while having the trainee on the team.

As always with datamines, take this information with a grain of salt, as things could always be changed before the feature launches — if it launches at all. Sometimes, stuff gets axed.

For the time being, though, fans are very excited about this potential addition and its possibilities for the future.
