Pokémon TCG Pocket’s new events let you get your missing promo cards

If you're missing promo cards, you have two weeks to get them
The Pokémon Company

Pokémon TCG Pocket is officially one year old, and alongside its massive new Mega Rising expansion, which kicks off the second year’s B-series format, The Pokémon Company has kicked off a few new events to celebrate. These events are special, too, as they’ll allow players a chance to get almost every promotional card from the first year of the game — a rare opportunity to complete the Promo-A card dex.

This opportunity is split into two similar but separate events: a Wonder Pick event and a Drop Event, which involves battling against CPUs with specific decks.

The Wonder Pick event is fairly straightforward. Every promo card from prior Wonder Pick events has been added to a single pool of cards, and Bonus Picks, as well as Chansey Picks, can appear at each Wonder Pick reset. Picking from these is all down to luck, both in which cards appear and which card you get, but it’s not a bad option to get cards if you’re missing a lot of Wonder Pick promo cards.

The Drop Event is a little more interesting. There are 12 Advanced-level battles, each of which is recycled from a prior event. Defeating a battle can give you a Promo Pack from its corresponding event, and there are five cards in each pack, just like the original events these packs are based on. If you missed out on a specific event, you can just grind out that one battle to get packs, which makes it much more consistent than the Wonder Pick event.

It’s worth noting, however, that there is one notable Drop Event battle that’s missing: the special Rayquaza ex Drop Event that took place earlier this year. If you’re missing cards from that event – which were contained in Promo Pack A Series Vol. 7 – then you’re out of luck. You simply can’t get those cards in this event, and there’s no telling if they’ll be made available in the future.

You also can't get any promotional cards given out for paid purchases, such as the monthly Premium bonus cards or the paid bundle Mewtwo card.

If you don’t want to grind out Wonder Picks and battles, though, there is another way to get a couple promo cards you’re missing. Each event has a list of missions to go alongside it, such as Wonder Picking a certain amount of times or completing a certain amount of battles. Completing these missions gives you tickets that can be traded for a copy of a specific card from the entire pool relevant to the event, so you can choose a card you really need.

Keep in mind, though, that you only get one ticket for the Wonder Pick event and one ticket for the Drop event. This means you’ll only be able to get one specific card, so you might want to save it for near the end of the event and only use it if it looks like you’re going to be missing out entirely.

Both the Wonder Pick event and the Drop Event end in two weeks time, on November 9, 2025, so you’ll want to get in quick if you want to catch up on all of the promo cards you missed.
