PS5 Digital Edition is reportedly about to be hit by shrinkflation in Europe
By Marco Wutz

Sony is reportedly planning on rolling out a new PS5 Digital Edition in Europe — and it’s worse than the one currently available. According to French website Dealabs, which has an excellent track record in this area, the upcoming version of the console will downgrade the included SSD from 1 TB to 825 GB. Instead of bringing down the price to reflect the reduced capabilities, the console will cost the same as currently available versions with a 1 TB SSD.
Dealabs writes that Sony is likely making this move to avoid yet another price increase, but this move towards shrinkflation is effectively a price increase anyway.
If the report turns out to be correct, the updated PS5 Digital Edition will arrive on European shelves on September 13, 2025. There are seemingly no current plans to bring the same version to the U.S. market.
