Resident Evil Requiem announced for 2026 release

The next Resident Evil game was just announced at Summer Game Fest 2025, after a cheeky tease from Capcom just a few minutes earlier, where it was said the company needed “a little bit more time” before it could show it off. Evidently not much time, because it was officially revealed as Resident Evil Requiem at the end of the show.
Resident Evil Requiem is the next main game in the Resident Evil series, with the game’s trailer briefly flashing up a 9 on the screen before swapping out to the subtitle Requiem. The trailer didn’t give us much to go off, but we seem to be playing as a new character, Grace Ashcroft, who is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, who first appeared in Resident Evil Outbreak and was briefly mentioned in a newspaper clipping in Resident Evil 7. Alyssa is now dead, it seems, and her daughter is now an FBI agent tasked with investigating strange occurrences.

The website for the game also offers this brief description:
Resident Evil Requiem is the ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series. Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core. A new era of survival horror begins in 2026. Technological advancements combined with the development team's depth of experience combine in a story with rich characters and gameplay that's more immersive than ever before.
The best part is that we won’t have to wait too long for the game. Resident Evil Requiem has a release date set for February 27, 2026, just a little over eight months away. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — sadly no Switch 2 release has been announced yet.
