RGG Studio’s Project Century is officially called Stranger Than Heaven

Last year at The Game Awards, Like a Dragon/Yakuza developer RGG Studio showed off a curious trailer for a new game it was working on. At the time, it was known only as Project Century, but RGG Studio has now dropped the project name and revealed the game’s official title: Stranger Than Heaven.
When Stranger Than Heaven was first revealed as Project Century, the game was said to be set in Japan, potentially Like a Dragon's Kamurocho, in 1914, but in the new trailer we see a timecode of 1943 and a location that seems to be Sotenbori. We’re not entirely sure what this means — it’s possible the game has shifted time periods, but it was called Project Century, so perhaps we’re looking at a game that spans multiple decades. We’ll have to wait and see, but RGG Studio also reuploaded the TGA trailer with a new endcard and the game’s new name, so it seems likely this isn’t a complete shift to a new time period.
As for the new trailer itself, we see a lot of similar, fast-paced combat, much like the previous trailer, as well as a few new gameplay aspects. Chief among them is a choice mechanic and what looks to be expanded detective investigations, not too dissimilar from the Judgment subseries, which certainly looks interesting.
As of yet, RGG Studio has yet to confirm if the game is set in the larger Like a Dragon series or if it’s a standalone project as part of a new IP. The trailer ends with the main character’s eyes glowing, which is a little reminiscent of Like a Dragon’s heat effects, but there’s very little information to work from right now.
No release date or launch platforms have been revealed for Stranger Than Heaven.
