Following the official announcement of RimWorld: Odyssey, developer Ludeon has revealed the expansion’s release date for PC: Odyssey will be released on July 11, 2025, alongside the free patch 1.6 for all players.

Accompanying this announcement is a host of details and information about the DLC’s nomadic colonies, flying vessels, and space stations. Players will be able to construct their own ship from parts that crash on their territory, slowly expanding it as they gain technologies and the ability to manufacture necessary materials. Although the ship can merely be a means of transportation, a large vessel can serve as a main base, allowing the player to experience a nomadic lifestyle.

Naturally, that opens up tons of different goals and playstyles — you could be an explorer, trade exotic goods, or chase glory and fame in quests that take you from one end of the world to the other. Dangerous adventures await anyone who wants to expand their gravship further, as some of the necessary components can only be found in high-threat areas.

There is a second ship type as well. Small passenger shuttles can be used for short-range trips, such as trade or rescue missions, and even get you into orbit.

Speaking of which: You’ll want to make your vessel (and its passengers) space-proof by getting the right components and gear, otherwise you risk a total loss via hull breaches and the like. In orbit, tons of content awaits: You can explore drifting wrecks, satellites, asteroids, stations, and mech platforms. All of these areas are their own mini-levels and come with unique threats and rewards for those brave enough to overcome them.

Odyssey will come with a new starting scenario for those who want to waste no time building up a functional ship — it’ll start you off with a vessel, plus a small crew to man it. The problem? You start on an orbital platform inhabited by mechanoids, so good luck with that.
