Xbox has announced that pre-orders for the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally begin today in select regions through the Microsoft Store, ASUS eshop, and select global retailers ahead of launch October 16.
Pricing varies by region, but US customers can expect to pay the following:
- ROG Xbox Ally X: Available for USD $999.99 (ERP)
- ROG Xbox Ally: Available for USD $599.99 (ERP)
In November last year, Xbox boss Phil Spencer told Bloomberg, in a not-so-subtle jab at PS5 Pro pricing, that "We’re not going to grow the market with $1,000 consoles.”
Announcing the pre-orders, the Xbox blurb says, "With these devices, we aim to deliver a new era for handheld gaming that empowers players to bring games from Xbox, Battle.net, and other leading PC storefronts with them, anywhere they go."
The handheld consoles basically offer the promise of Xbox Game Pass on the go, allowing you to play your Xbox library wherever you want, with ergonomic grips inspired by the official Xbox controller. As with the traditional Xbox consoles, the ROG Xbox Ally X offers the best performance, but also the highest price.
