Skate launches next month in early access
By Ryan Woodrow

After 15 years without a peep, a new Skate game is launching next month, albeit in early access. You’ll be able to drop into this new open-world, live-service skateboarding playground on September 16, 2025, with the game’s development ongoing.
You’ll be able to drop into the island city of San Vansterdam, where every nook and cranny has been built with skating in mind, full of challenges to complete and cool places to hang out with friends and show off your tricks. However, you can also forgo the skateboard to play around with stunts, flinging yourself off buildings in the most graceful ways possible, and an enhanced parkour system, making getting around easier than ever.
The game is going for a free-to-play, live-service model, which means the game will be continually updated with things like season passes that you can pay for to increase your customization options. It also means you can play in large groups, which will make for some fun skate sessions, especially when you add the fact that you can now spawn objects into the world while people are skating to create interesting courses in this playground.
Just bear in mind that the early access model means that the game won’t be feature-complete right away, but the upside is that the team behind the game will be looking to the community for feedback on what direction the game’s development should take as things unfold.
Skate is set to launch in early access on September 16, 2025 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
