Slavic Magic explains why it’s been so quiet around Manor Lords recently
By Marco Wutz

It’s been very quiet around Manor Lords, the 2024 hit city-builder from Slavic Magic and Hooded Horse, with players waiting for news and even game updates in vain. Fans needn’t worry about the game being abandoned, though, as the developer has now explained the long silence — in short: The team is hard at work on some fundamental system reworks and releasing updates in the meantime would only break things unnecessarily.
With the swap from solo development to a full team working on the title finally being completed, the developer promised that more frequent patches will be on the agenda once this update has been shipped.
Among the systems being reworked is the relationship between buildings and the environment. Slavic Magic wants structures to benefit from being placed in certain areas, such as apiaries in woodland. In turn, apiaries can then strengthen nearby orchards placed in nearby meadows — all very logical and authentic, as we are used to from the Polish developer. Naturally, this means that players will need to be smarter about their placements and take care of their environment. Cutting down all the trees in the apiaries vicinity is going to make that production bonus vanish.
There are lots of new visual assets as well: Fresh storefront and artisan workshops will give the larger towns a much more urban feel. A feature to allow players to see their units through castle walls and buildings is in the works as well and Slavic Magic has another map in the oven, which will feature a mountain range dividing two plains.
Both perk and building cards have gotten an art overhaul and look properly medieval now.
