Square Enix cancels Kingdom Hearts Missing Link

Square Enix has announced that it canceled the development of Kingdom Hearts Missing Link, a spin-off game of the popular franchise. Kingdom Hearts 4, the next mainline entry, remains in development and is unaffected by the decision.
“We have made the decision to cancel the development of Kingdom Hearts Missing Link,” the company wrote in a statement. “We wish to convey our heartfelt apologies to everyone who has been looking forward to the start of service.”
In the announcement, Square Enix explained that it “would be difficult for us to offer a service that players would find satisfactory over a long period of time” and therefore decided to cancel the project. Missing Link was supposed to be a live-service game for mobile devices.
“The Kingdom Hearts series will continue. We are hard at work on Kingdom Hearts 4, and hope you’ll continue to support the series as you keep an eye out for further updates,” the statement ended.
Kingdom Hearts fans will have to bridge the gap to KH4 with the upcoming All-In-One Package, which brings together ten titles of the franchise for PS4 with a June 12, 2025, release date.
