Star Birds release date moved back by a week on PC

A Silksong-induced delay.

Upcoming sci-fi management game Star Birds will be released into Early Access on September 10, 2025, on PC, developer Toukana Interactive confirmed. The title originally targeted a launch on September 4, but with the recent announcement that Team Cherry’s hyped Hollow Knight: Silksong would come out that day, the studio thought it best to delay its own launch for a week.

Though not quite as highly-anticipated as Silksong – outside of GTA 6 there probably wasn’t any game that could rival it in this metric – Star Birds has its own ardent followers for two very good reasons. One is that Toukana’s previous game, Dorfromantik, is a highly-acclaimed treasure for strategy and puzzle fans. The other is that Star Birds’ art style and music is inspired by YouTube channel kurzgesagt’s iconic style. The German company also acts as a co-publisher for the title.

At Gamescom 2025, Star Birds managed to win the event’s award for the best merchandise and turned out to be highly popular among visitors.

A demo version is available to play on Steam, but you can also check out our own Star Birds hands-on impressions for a look at the game.
