Shift Up plans for Stellar Blade sequel to be released before 2027
By Marco Wutz

South Korean developer Shift Up has published its latest earnings report, which contains a slide that confirms a Stellar Blade sequel being in development. It appears to be planned for a launch ahead of 2027.
Another game in development, Project Witches, is seemingly scheduled to follow up the sequel and belongs to a different IP. According to the company’s org chart, only 18 people are working on the project at the moment compared to 148 on Nikke and 107 on Stellar Blade.
Elsewhere in the report, Shift Up lauded the growth of its hit gacha game, Goddess of Victory: Nikke, in a market that the studio believes to suffer from signs of “cannibalization” and that has rising user expectations overall, leading to very few new releases surviving even half a year.
Shift Up expects the gacha game market to get more crowded still in 2025 with the potential arrival of titles such as Ananta, Neverness to Everness, and Arknights: Endfield.
Interestingly, the company noted how user expectations in gacha games have risen around the globe in recent years, which in turn leads to rising production and release costs.
Shift Up is bringing Stellar Blade to PC on June 11, 2025, at the same time releasing the new Complete Edition of the game on PS5.
