Tango Gameworks is hiring developers for a new action game

Tango Gameworks is back: Following its closure by Microsoft and subsequent acquisition by KRAFTON, the studio finally opened up its new website and showed off a revamped logo — featuring a ‘T’ seemingly inspired by the looks of Japanese torii, the wooden gateways often found around shrines.

Most importantly, though, Tango is hiring developers for its first project since its reconstitution, which is being described as an action game. The associated job listings reveal that it will be a 3D game built on Unreal Engine 5.

Tango Gameworks was originally founded in 2010 by former Capcom employee Shinji Mikami, but quickly became part of ZeniMax due to financial struggles, which was in turn acquired by Microsoft in 2021. Mostly known for survival horror action games, the studio landed a surprise hit in Hi-Fi Rush in 2023 that showed its wide range of skills.

However, the studio wasn’t given the chance to follow up on that success, as it was closed by Microsoft as part of its massive cost cuts in 2024 alongside Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Games, and Roundhouse Studios. Rescue came a few months later in the form of KRAFTON, as the South Korean publisher and developer bought the studio and some of its IP from Microsoft. It was able to hire back around half of the former employees as well, but that obviously left many positions open that need to be filled now that the studio decided on its next project.

Shinji Mikami is not part of this restart, as he left Tango in 2023 and founded a new studio – KAMUY – in 2024.
