Ubisoft enlists Hooded Horse to publish new Heroes of Might and Magic game
By Marco Wutz

Developer Unfrozen is currently working on a prequel to the iconic Heroes of Might and Magic franchise and IP owner Ubisoft has enlisted an able helping hand to make the series’ return a success. Hooded Horse, the publisher known for titles like Manor Lords and Against the Storm, will take over the main publishing duties for Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, which is launching for PC via Steam Early Access later in 2025.
Currently sitting on over 600,000 Steam Wishlists, the turn-based tactics title is something fans have been awaiting for a long time — and it’s exactly the type of game Hooded Horse has had tons of success and experience with in the past.
Teaming up with Ubisoft further marks Hooded Horse’s ascension in the industry following its agreement to serve as the publisher of Amplitude Studio’s Endless Legend 2.
Ubisoft’s Alain Corre explained that the smaller publisher’s “passion for the franchise and strong connection with strategy communities” made it “the perfect complement to Unfrozen’s creative talent.”
“Together, we'll reignite Heroes of Might and Magic and bring players to exciting, unexplored realms,” he concluded.
“We firmly believe that their expertise, combined with Ubisoft’s legacy, will allow us to make Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era truly successful and introduce the game to even more fans of tactical turn-based strategies from all over the world,” Unfrozen CEO Denis Fedorov added.
Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender said that the company was “honored” to become part of the project.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era takes place before the first game of the series and explores the continent of Jadame, which has been mentioned but never visited in the other games of the franchise. Jadame houses all-new factions, monsters, and biomes.
Unfrozen has previously worked on the well-received turn-based roguelite RPG Iratus, so it brings the necessary knowhow to create an engaging tactical experience.
