With major publishers getting snapped up left and right, it’s no surprise that Ubisoft has been looking into new ventures throughout 2025. Hot on the heels of the news that EA is now a private company after getting acquired, Ubisoft and Tencent have officially announced he launch of a new subsidiary, Vantage Studios.

Vantage Studios is co-owned by Ubisoft and Tencent, with Tencent having a 25% stake in the new entity, while Ubisoft’s Chrisophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot will be running it. The studio takes in a bunch of Ubisoft-owned teams like those in Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia, for a total of 2,300 employees.

What will be most interesting to fans of Ubisoft’s games under this new arrangement is that this new studio is set to lead Ubisoft’s biggest franchises, with Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six all being handed over to the teams at Vantage. The idea, Ubisoft tells its staff, is to operate in a less central fashion and offer greater creative control to the teams working on these IPs.

It will take a while for us to see what this new approach to development gets us, but hopefully, it will be a success, as it was revealed earlier in the year that Tencent has invested 1.16 billion Euros in this new venture.
