War Thunder studio acquires Fortnite custom game in deal worth “millions”
By Marco Wutz

Gaijin Entertainment, the developer of War Thunder, has announced that it acquired a Fortnite custom game called The Pit from its original creator. Though the company didn’t state an exact number, the deal is apparently worth “millions” and is supposed to mark a strategic shift for the studio.
It’s also a pretty massive milestone for Epic Games and its positioning of Fortnite as a platform and ecosystem for user-generated content. Epic makes payouts to creators of popular Fortnite maps based on their engagement numbers and these are obviously substantial enough to get the attention of full-fledged development studios.
Gavin „Geerzy“ Gear, the original maker of The Pit, has already worked with Gaijin’s subsidiary EndoWorlds over the past two months for the custom game’s handover, making the transition of ownership a smooth matter.
EndoWorlds plans on continuing the support and development of The Pit in Fortnite, which is a free-for-all PvP game mode.
