Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 gameplay trailer reveals Leagues of Votann

This is about to become a ménage à trois.

Bulwark Studios and Kasedo Games have finally released a gameplay trailer for upcoming turn-based tactics game Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 and it came with a surprise — instead of only featuring the familiar rivals of the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons, the Leagues of Votann have made an appearance. This is a first for any video game, as they’ve been introduced to Warhammer 40,000 not too long ago.

The ruthless and greedy space dwarfs showing up on Hekateus IV is not a great sign for any of the involved parties, but it’s still unclear what their exact purpose on this world is. Knowing them, they’re probably there to mine some stuff and sell it overpriced in the next solar system.

Whatever it is, their troops appearing in the trailer seem to be battle-ready.

As for the two known quantities, the trailer showed that Faustinius’ advisors from the original title are back, this time as leaders you can deploy on the battlefield.

The video also gave us a glimpse at some of the brand-new environments the skirmishes will be taking place in. Aside from the familiar darkness of Necron tombs, players will be able to fight in ruined imperial outposts, overgrown ruins, excavation sites, and other areas.

Of course, the Necrons will be playable as well this time around and the trailer has given us a few seconds of that as well. In addition, we saw a clip showcasing the extensive customization options available for the Tech-Priests of the Cult Mechanicus.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2 is set to come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S later in 2025.
