Owlcat reveals Overseer class for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader – Lex Imperialis
By Marco Wutz

Owlcat Games is getting ready for the release of Lex Imperialis, the next DLC for Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, and has revealed the new character archetype and origins included in the expansion.
Players will be able to choose a new archetype called Overseer, which takes on a support role. Their speciality lies in their ability to deploy familiars to the battlefield, which help even out the odds against swarms of enemies. Instead of controlling these companions directly as another party member, players will need to give them commands through the Overseer’s abilities.
The Overseer is a Tier 2 archetype available to characters with the Officer or Operative Tier 1 archetypes, but it can also be unlocked through the Sanctioned Psyker, Unsanctioned Psyker, and Arbites origins.
How you gain access to the archetype decides which familiar your character will have, so the Arbites, for example, get the cyber-mastiff, while Psykers gain the psyber-raven and Officers or Operatives bring a cyber-eagle or servo-skull swarm. Naturally, the majority of the Overseer’s abilities are designed to strengthen their familiar or expand their skills.
Owlcat confirmed that there will be no limit on the number of Overseers players can bring into their party, so you can technically run around with a small army in Lex Imperialis.
The Arbites origin comes in three variations, allowing players to make their Rogue Trader a former member of the Imperium’s law-enforcement.
Subductors are melee specialists and make use of shields – a new gear type coming with the DLC – to protect themselves as well as exert pressure on enemies.
Vigilants focus on the use of shotguns, becoming experts at shredding entire groups of foes at close range. You can even wield two two-handed shotguns with this origin for extra destructive power.
Finally, the Castigator origin allows you to debuff enemies and manipulate their movements.
We can expect to hear more about Lex Imperials during the upcoming Warhammer Skulls show.
