The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 horde mode is coming with Update 8.0
By Marco Wutz

Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive have teased the upcoming horde mode for their popular third-person shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. They confirmed that the players will be able to team up in squads of three for this mode, just like for Operations, and stated that bots could fill two empty slots, enabling players to enjoy the mode by themselves.
Both the Tyranids and the forces of Chaos will join the fun as enemies, the difficulty increasing with every wave. The horde mode will share its class and weapon levels with the existing PvE infrastructure. Kadaku will serve as the mode’s map.
They teased that the release date and actual name of the mode would be revealed at an event that hasn’t been announced yet, though the prominent addition of two skull emojis to that note may indicate that these details will be unveiled at the annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, which focuses on video games set in Games Workshop’s universes. Warhammer Skulls traditionally happens towards the end of May, which would line up well with Space Marine 2's update cadence.
In any case, horde mode will be part of the major Update 8.0 for the game alongside the Blood Angels Cosmetic Pack, White Scars Champion Pack, and a substantial rebalancing of Absolute difficulty mode. Similar to the details around horde mode, Update 8.0 seems to be set for a big reveal at the redacted, skull-related event happening soon.
Alongside this community update, the developers put out a small hotfix to address issues that have popped up since the release of Update 7.0 for Space Marine 2.
