Wildgate roadmap reveals post-launch content plans for 2025 and beyond
By Marco Wutz

‘Sea of Thieves in space’ is a popular concept, as Wildgate’s demo recently proved at Steam Next Fest: It was second on the ranking of most-played demos and cracked the milestone of being on over half a million Steam Wishlists. With the game being released on July 22, 2025, Moonshot Games and Dreamhaven have announced the additional content that players will experience at launch as well as what the game’s long term support will look like.
At launch, Wildgate will feature additional progression paths, including scrap crates (chests you can find during a match, which contain a cosmetic item for you and your entire team that you'll get to keep permanently), an infamy system (a ranking system), streak goals and stats (rewards for reaching cool milestones), and player titles as well as badges. There will also be more cosmetics to unlock, which includes some rarer items. Improvements have been made to matchmaking, the spectator view, and lots of other areas — much of it based on the community feedback gathered through the beta and demo.
Following launch, the developers will roll out Reach Anomalies every two weeks, which will be an update with a new point of interest, artifact type, hardpoint type, or hazard. Roughly three seasonal updates per year will bring major content drops, such as new characters, ships, gear, mechanics, or playable areas. There will also be mid-season patches as needed, which will be used to address balance issues, performance, and so on. Moonshot appears to have a very disciplined approach to post-launch support, which is a great sign for potential players.
Season 1, which will be available later this year, will come with a new Prospector, some new equipment pieces, an Adventure Pass, fresh Reach Anomalies, and new cosmetics. Custom lobbies are on the agenda for 2025 as well.
It’s worth noting that Wildgate’s Adventure Passes do not run out like traditional Battle Passes, so players can take their time finishing it at their own pace and still get all the rewards.
Content for Season 2 and 3 – as well as beyond – is already in the works as well.
