Zenless Zone Zero 2.0 – release date, events, features, and anniversary rewards

HoYoverse has finally lifted the curtain on Zenless Zone Zero 2.0, the major upcoming update for the urban fantasy action RPG.

Titled Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn, the patch sees protagonists Belle and Wise move to Waifei Peninsula to join the dojo of Yixuan in order to train and control their new-found powers. However, the idyllic area isn’t quite as tranquil as it seems, for a conspiracy is ripening in the shadows.

ZZZ 2.0 release date and trailer

Version 2.0 of ZZZ is set to be released on PC, PS5, iOS, Android, and Xbox Series X|S on June 6, 2025.

ZZZ 2.0 story, characters, and maps

In Chapter 1 of Season 2, Belle and Wise arrive on Waifei Peninsula to study under Yixuan, the High Preceptor of Yunkui Summit, in exchange for helping her out with her own investigations in the Lemnian Hollow.

ZZZ 2.0 also features an Agent Story starring Ju Fufu, which draws players into the dramatic filming of an action flick.

All three Agents available on the ZZZ 2.0 banners hail from Yunkui Summit, the new faction being introduced with this update. Yixuan, the first Rupture Agent in the game, is a powerful damage dealer spearheading the brand-new Agent class. Fellow S-Rank Agent Ju Fufu is a Stun character who can remain on the battlefield even if she’s not the active character — a blueprint for the future. Finally Pan Yinhu is an A-Rank Agent joining the Defense class and seems to be tailormade to support Yixuan and future Rupture Agents.

Waifei Peninsula has more traditional vibes than Sixth Street, but is no less urban. Players can explore entirely new neighborhoods such as Failume Heights and Aerospace City as well as the Lemnian Hollow.

ZZZ 2.0 events and anniversary rewards

The following events will be available during ZZZ 2.0:

• As Time Passes: A Decade of Suibian Temple – management event to help Ju Fufu rebuild Suibian Temple to its old glory.
• Gravitational Attraction – watch movies to level up your VIP membership at the cinema; rewards include the A-Rank W-Engine Reel Projector and Polychromes.
• Soul of Steel: Golden Bond – pilot a mecha in battle and customize it as you progress; rewards include Polychromes.
• Holographic Onslaught Arena – combat event in the HIA VR studio; rewards include Polychromes.
• Failume Heights Sightseeing Guide – explore the new Proxies’ neighborhood; rewards include Polychromes.
• Hollow Zero: Phantom Paths – new Special Operation Commissions in Hollow Zero; rewards include Polychromes.
• Golden Proxy Awards: Annual Ceremony – celebration event; rewards include Polychromes.
• Combat Training: Triple Bounty – triple rewards from Combat Simulation.
• Special Cleanup: Triple Bounty – triple rewards from Routine Cleanup.
• Festive Channel – login event for 1,600 Polychromes, Anniversary Avatar, and Anniversary Title; claim Grace, Rina, Koleda, Nekomata, Soldier 11, or Lycaon plus one standard S-Rank W-Engine for free.
• Check in Event – login event for 20 Encrypted Master Tapes and 10 Boopons.

In addition, a web event worth 480 Polychromes and ZZZ 2.0 pre-registration are starting today. The anniversary will also reset all the first-time top-up bonuses in the in-game store.

ZZZ 2.0 features and changes

New Outfits

Fresh skins will be available for Belle and Wise, which can be unlocked for free by playing the main story of the update. Yixuan also gets a skin, which will be available in the in-game store.

New Daily Management

As Time Passes: A Decade of Suibian Temple will be available permanently and allow players to earn rewards like Polychromes as they progress through the rebuilding of Suibian Temple and fulfill neighborhood requests.

New Exploration

Instead of linear maps and a strict division between exploration and combat, ZZZ 2.0 unifies the two. This brings new mechanics like Perception Techniques, which can be used to find clues on the map and spot important locations, and technical changes such as revamped controls.

Players can also choose between using the old – but optimized – navigation bar to get from one location to another or use the brand-new world map.

New Agent Class

ZZZ 2.0 adds Rupture Agents into the mix, which will provide a mixture of offensive power and survivability. Accordingly, new promotion materials as well as B- and A-Rank W-Engines will be available to upgrade and equip these characters.

In connection with this addition, a new character stat will be introduced: Sheer Force allows Agents to ignore the DEF of their targets.

New Hollow Zero content

Hollow Zero will be expanded with brand-new story content, which will feature our first look at the remaining members of Obol Squad.

Yixuan and Ju Fufu will receive special equipment for Hollow Zero and new sets of gear that focus on Aftershock DMG will be added. Furthermore, all characters with special gear will be able to equip it during a run in the future, not only a single Agent on the team.

Players can also earn extra rewards by completing the weekly challenges with a rotating set of highlighted characters.

New Drive Disc Sets

Yunkui Tales:

• (2) +10% Maximum HP
• (4) +4% CRIT Rate when using EX Special Attack, Chain Attack, and Ultimate for 15s (can stack up to three times), +10% Sheer DMG at maximum stacks.

King of the Summit:

• (2) +6% Daze infliction for all attacks
• (4) +15% CRIT DMG for the party if the equipper is a Stun Agent and uses EX Special Attack or Chain Attack for 15s; +15% CRIT DMG for the party in addition, if the wearer has at least 50% CRIT Rate.

Changes to Old Characters

ZZZ 2.0 will bring kit changes and buffs for Ellen to help her stand up to newer Attack Agents. The team stated that they’d closely monitor player feedback on this to decide whether they’ll continue changing the kits of old characters in the future.

Changes will also be made to Astra Yao, Koleda, Lucy, and Pulchra, allowing their Teamwork Abilities to be triggered when working with Rupture Agents.

Movie Dates

Players can invite characters to watch movies together, which will feature dialog choices with different outcomes. This feature debuts with the cinema event in ZZZ 2.0 and will then remain available permanently.

Technical Changes

Players will be able to skip ahead to Season 2 after playing through Season 1 Chapter 2. They will then progress through Season 2 for a bit, before playing the rest of Season 1 as a flashback.

New players will also be able to progress through Proxy Levels much faster in the future due to some waived requirements.

Other notable changes include the enabling of automatic switching between controller and mouse and keyboard (similar to Genshin Impact), a random enemy option and higher starting Energy in Combat Simulation, and a more elaborate resource management system for PC and mobile devices, which allows players to free up storage space.
