The mid lane in League of Legends is one of the most pivotal points on the map. Control of mid lane means control of the center of the map, and the fastest lane to your opponents base. Mid lane champions must be able to clear lanes quickly, and be pertinent in team fights. Mid lane champions as a whole are only slightly affected by this patch.

With that in mind, here are the five best mid lane champions of patch 11.3

5 Best Mid Laners in League of Legends Patch 11.3

Galio

Galio sees a lot of use in professional play, and for good reason. Multiple of Galio's abilities allow him to engage and disengage team fights. His Winds of War (Q) can quickly clear lanes and allow Galio to keep his distance if need be. On top of all that, Galio was barely affected by this patch. The only minor nerf to his typical item build is that Zhonya's Hourglass now costs 100 more gold.

Katarina

Katarina's speed and lethality make her a prevalent mid lane champion. Between her Shunpo (E) and Preparation (W) abilities, Katarina can easily pull off ganks, or close the gap between her and a fleeing opponent. Her Voracity (passive) and Death Lotus (R) mean she can output damage quickly and secure kills in team fights. Katarina's usually take Lich Bane as an item, which will do less damage this upcoming patch. However, it's not enough to take Katarina out of the equation.

Zed

For similar reasons to Katarina, Zed makes the top 5 mid lane list. Zed has a quick wave clear which allows him the ability to roam and make plays if need be. Zed can fight from a distance if need be with his Razor Shuriken (Q). Also, Zed's item build however was practically untouched. Eclipse received the small nerf of 10% omnivamp to 8% omnivamp. However, Eclipse isn't a "must have" for Zed players.

Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate also sees a lot of attention in professional play this patch. He can keep his distance and deal plenty of damage. Twisted Fate can also clear lanes fairly quickly and safely. His Destiny (R) ability makes it easy to find picks and flank in team fights. Not to mention his Gold and Red cards from his Pick a Card (W) ability are extra valuable in team fights and ganks. Twisted Fate does typically take Lich Bane, which does slightly less ability power now, but that doesn't stop The Card Master from standing tall in mid lane.

Fizz

Fizz was also practically untouched this patch, meaning he remains strong in mid lane. Fizz's Playful/Trickster (E) ability not only allows him to dodge attacks, but it also powerful in team fights and ganks. His Chum the Waters (R) is good for starting team fights as well as securing kills. Fizz is another mid lane champion that typically takes Lich Bane and Zhonya's Hourglass as items. However, those slight nerfs won't stop Fizz for long.
