As League of Legends Patch 9.12 draws nearer and more balance news emerges from the PBE, our idea of the ladder meta is shoring up. As such, here are the five best top laners in League of Legends Patch 9.12.
Yorick is a decent staple in the top lane across a wide range of skill levels. He's not looking at many changes in Patch 9.12, but he's fairly durable and should be able to hold his own against some of the other champions on this list.
Ryze is getting a few of his abilities retooled. He's actually losing some of his health sustain and mana pool in favor of higher mana regen and guaranteed Spell Flux bounces on his primary target.
Aatrox does have nerfs coming with the new patch, but from the look of it they should be minor: his ultimate will give less healing and his passive cooldown will be much longer at early levels, but now it scales with your level.
Akali has been performing well at high levels of ladder play throughout Patch 9.11, and she is one of few top laners that doesn't appear to be looking at any major changes. Given the changes to Ryze and Mordekaiser, Akali might end up dominating the lane because of her burst potential.
Mordekaiser's rework is looking good. He's no longer dependent on having a lane partner to make use of one of his abilities, he has a boatload of sustain, and he ought to be putting out a lot of consistent damage, all while shielding himself for better trades.
Not only is he likely to move back into the top lane in a big way, he's shaping up to be quite a bully.
