Week 5 of the EU Summer Split wraps up the half way point as some teams struggle to stay relevant and others have to worry about the Rift Rivals around the corner. Here are the standings at the midway point.

Week 5 Results

Ninjas in Pyjamas 0-2 Mysterious Monkeys

Fnatic 2-0 Splyce

Team Vitality 2-0 ROCCAT

Misfits 0-2 H2K

G2 Esports 2-0 Mysterious Monkeys

Ninjas in Pyjamas 1-2 Unicorns of Love

The fight for last place started this week with the series between NIP and MM. At the time of the match, both teams had zero wins in both series or games. It was MM that secured the victory and cemented NIP in tenth place. However, the week did get a little better for NIP as they were able to secure their first game win against UOL; this is also the only series this week that went to three games.

The series against NIP was more than just a fight for last place for some players on MM. New members, top laner Mateusz "Kikis" Szkudlarek and jungler Maurice "Amazing" Stückenschneider were once members of the CS team Fnatic Academy that qualified for a place in the LCS during the 2017 Summer Promotion tournament.

The place was bought by NIP and instead of keeping the Academy roster, they choose to bring in their own players, which left Kikis and Amazing without a team. We can only imagine the win was extra special.

When H2K and Misfits hit the Rift it was to secure second place in the overall scoreboard. Both teams were tied with a 4-1 record. It was a nail-biting series that saw Misfits take the lead in both games, but H2K were resilient and snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat.

We'll see a break in action while Rift Rivals take place this coming week.
