Super Smash Bros. Melee has a host of memorable personalities and competitors from all across the world. One of the most popular fan-favorite players in the entire scene, representing an entirely unusual character at a very high level, is none other than Japanese Yoshi pro Masaya "aMSa" Chikamoto.
After exploding onto the scene with a ninth place finish at Apex 2014, he repeated and outdid his incredible performance with a fifth place finish the following year at the same event.
These performances are two of the best ever achieved by a low-tier main, combined with a win over Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman, one of the best players of all time and one of the "Five Gods" of the game.
His high peaks and unusual character selection make aMSa an exciting addition to any tournament, but his living situation makes it difficult for him to regularly attend major tournaments. This makes any tournaments he can attend all the more hype, and he recently was confirmed for one of Melee's biggest events:
That's right, aMSa will be attending The Big House 7 this year! He will also be attending EVO 2017, so keep an eye out for the Yoshi prodigy in the coming months.
