Day 3 of the North American and European Rift Rivals concluded the final day of the group stages with explosive wins from both regions!

The Results:

Phoenix1 1-0 G2 Esports

Unicorns of Love 1-0 Cloud9

Fnatic 0-1 Team SoloMid

Phoenix1 1-0 Unicorns of Love

Fnatic 0-1 Cloud9

G2 Esports 0-1 Team SoloMid

The Clown Fiesta

Phoenix1 had a fairly clean game against G2. While Derek "zig" Shao made a mistake at Level 2 in the top lane, it was understandable since P1 decided to funnel resources towards their bot lane to get them rolling. They threw once and lost baron, but overall, a clean game.

G2 Esports in all ways failed this game. Simply put, their draft was terrible. When they had a small chance of winning, they lost in the macro and micro despite their dragon control. They will have to work from scratch and figure this meta out quickly because they did not look good all tournament.

Unicorns Obliterate the Messy C9

Unicorns won yet another game despite all odds and destroyed Cloud9's bot lane. Their team fights were on point; the fact that they've returned to something they're more comfortable on has turned out great for them so far. We can only hope to see more!

Cloud9 did a great job abusing the downtime of Mega Gnar to take and win small skirmishes, but they were not able to compete against Unicorns. C9 seemed cocky coming into the game and gave away free kills and free objectives. Perhaps funneling so many resources mid may not be the best option all the time.

TSM Toys With Fnatic

TSM performing well on an international stage? What episode of The Twilight Zone are we in?Not only did they allow Fnatic to have all of their comfort picks, but TSM took their strategy and laughed at them. Absolutely an impressive game from Team SoloMid.

P1 Stomps UoL

Ryu "Ryu" Sang-wook and No "Arrow" Dong-hyeon seemed to be trolling by trying to kill steal one another, especially at the end of the game. Rookie of the Split, Michael "MikeYeung" Yeung, was a monster on Nidalee and both Derek "zig" Shao and Alex "Xpecial" Chu set their team up for success. I hope to see P1 bring these kinds of games into the 2017 NA Summer Split.

Part of me wants to say UoL lost at drafting phase because they allowed MikeYeung his number one champion: Nidalee. On the other hand, she isn't a high priority pick. However, the lack of the Nidalee ban was their undoing as MikeYeung dismantled every lane before they could start.

TSM Fulfills Their MSI Revenge

While G2 Esports made TSM work for their win, they played many of the fights right despite the Baron throw. Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng was able to stop the Mega Gnar engages multiple times using the Tristana ultimate, their rotations were great, and Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg's Flash ultimate won them the game.

G2 was behind the curve when they started and they have not improved throughout the tournament. It's causing them to lose their identity that fans grew accustomed to during MSI.

TSM will meet Unicorns of Love in the finals of the western Rift Rivals. The NA favorites finished 5-1, with their only loss coming against Unicorns of Love. While the European team finished 3-3, they can hang their hat on their comeback win against TSM.

Can TSM walk away with an international trophy? Or will Unicorns of Love play spoiler like they have in past tournaments? Tune in on Saturday, July 8 to find out!
