Some had their doubts about the new Immortals. There were fears voiced as they did not have enough practice as a team, and some were worried about how Jake "Xmithie" Puchero would slot into the team.

Immortals surprised everyone by taking the 2017 NA LCS Summer Split by storm, sitting in a second place tie with Team SoloMid at 7-3.

It may be surprising to others, but Xmithie, despite being new, has stepped up for Immortals and taken the roll of shot-caller. Instead of everyone looking at the smaller picture and trying to win lane by bringing their solo queue mentality into the LCS setting, Xmithie reminds them that they are a team and that one or more losing lanes does not mean defeat.

He admits that he is still learning, but he has brought something to the table for Immortals that they needed desperately.
