Lee "WhoRU" Seung Joon's disappearance from Lunatic-Hai's starting roster was met by a storm of controversy and confusion, but head coach Chae “alwaysoov” Ho-jeong revealed the reasons behind the benching: ego.
An announcement released by alwaysoov mentioned that WhoRU was not playing for the team due to personality problems.
"Regarding WhoRU, I think it's best to officially talk about it and end it," he said. "There was an internal reason for not sending out WhoRU. At the time, his skill was good and it was right for him to play. But, we are Lunatic-Hai not WhoRU's team. I think that there is no player that is more important than the team. Now, WhoRU has reflected on his actions. I do not want to talk about this from now on."
Lunatic-Hai's head coach revealed that Whoru had been benched up until now due to ego issues. Whoru will return to play next season.— Young Jae Jeon (@RallyJaffa) July 29, 2017
Korean esports journalist, Young Jae Jeon, confirmed that WhoRU will not automatically return to the starting roster once he's served his time, but will instead be in consideration for play. If Gi-do "Gido" Mun is seen as more desirable of a starter, WhoRU may continue to sit on the bench.
It's a rough situation for fans of WhoRU, but you can't fault the organization for putting wins before ego.
