5 Surprising Facts About Week 1 of the 2018 NA LCS Spring Split

If you thought the results of the first week of the 2018 League of Legends NA LCS were already surprising enough, think again. With the help of an infographic put out by Riot after Week 1, we've got some facts about the weekend that might just blow your mind.

5. The Results From Academy League Were Almost Identical

It's almost eerie how the results from the North American Academy series are nearly completely identical to those of Week 1 of the NA LCS -- that is, if 100 Thieves' Academy team hadn't lost to OpTic Gaming, unlike in the LCS, where 100 Thieves struggled and overcame the same organization.

4. Stopwatch Was Taken by Players 60 Times

With the 10 games having been played this weekend and 10 players in each of them, Stopwatch, as an item, could have been taken a total of 100 times if each player in each game had purchased one. With this being said, Stopwatch was actually taken 60 times, determining fates of games and team fights, to boot.

3. The Team Liquid and Team SoloMid Game Was the Shortest

Ending at an underwhelming total of 28 minutes, Team SoloMid's game versus Team Liquid was the shortest match to be played of Week 1 at the NA LCS. With the final score being 11-1, not only did Liquid completely stomp TSM, but they also did so in a very timely manner.

2. Taric is Incredibly Popular

We knew he was useful, but we just didn't know exactly how useful.

Taric was the most-picked champion of Week 1 of the NA LCS. Barely beating out other champions like Gangplank and Malzahar, Taric was picked a total of seven times this past weekend, and is likely to be picked just as much, if not more, in the coming weeks.

1. Five Players Didn't Die Once

You can guess who they might be, but the actual players that didn't die might surprise you.

While Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng and Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg are known for their high KDAs and low deaths, other players like Yoo "Ryu" Sang-wook, Jung "Impact" Eon-Yeong, and Kim "Fenix" Jae-hun also made the list of players this week with no deaths in game at all.
