Danish Counter-Strike rifler Emil "Magisk" Reif is set to join Astralis, according to multiple sources. Magisk has spent the past four months playing for North American organization OpTic Gaming.

In a shocking turn of events, Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjærbye left Astralis after the team had intended to not make any moves following the recent ELEAGUE Major: Boston. With mere days until the ESL Pro League roster lock, Astralis had to scramble for a replacement.

Magisk was considered a budding superstar during his tenure with Dignitas, which later transitioned to the North organization. During the latter half of his time with the team, Magisk was unable to keep that level and was eventually replaced by Valdemar "valde" Bjørn Vangså.

Astralis finished 1-3 in the New Legends Stage at the Boston Major, with its only win coming against North. Until a few weeks before the event, it was still unknown if Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz would be back from injury in time to play. Additionally, the team made a significant role change by having Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann AWP instead of dev1ce. Astralis will play Season 7 of ESL Pro League and its first offline event will be StarSeries i-League Season 4 followed by IEM Katowice at the end of the month.

Representatives for Astralis could not initially be reached for comment.
