Before Friday's matches, the Overwatch League announced that the MVP voting had begun.
It may seem a tad bit early as the award encompasses the whole Overwatch League season including all four stages.
You can cast your vote on Twitter using the Hashtag #OWLMVP and then the player's Battle Tag. After the voting period is over which hasn't been announced yet, fans plus analysts votes will be tallied.
It's hard to imagine voting for any player until all four stages finish, but we have two full stages to base our voting on. It's tough to think which player has proven themselves above the rest.
An MVP candidate should be pivotal to his team's success and a consistent force in every meta. It's hard not to choose a candidate on a playoff or winning team, but that doesn't necessarily need to be true. Imagine the team without that player; does that team fall apart?
That's an MVP candidate.
You have new and flashy candidates like Jay "sinatraa" Won and Joon-hyuk "Bunny" Chae, but they are only now making an impact in the Overwatch League. It's too soon to vote for them. Instead, we need to look at players that have made London Spitfire, New York Excelsior, and even Philadelphia Fusion special.
So before you cast your vote, don't get distracted by flashy plays or young guns. Get excited by consistent brilliance and a player that would make any team a contender.
