RNG will play Fnatic in the first semifinal at 6 a.m. ET Friday, and the second semifinal takes place at 6 a.m. ET Saturday.
Team Liquid started 0-4 in the MSI group stage before winning four of its next five matches to get back into contention. Liquid lost 1-0 to RNG in a matchup that would have clinched a playoff spot. Instead, the loss created a tiebreaker with Fnatic, which won an intense 36-minute game.
RNG beat Flash Wolves 1-0 in a separate tiebreaker Tuesday to determine the champion of the group stage. Flash Wolves started 6-0 before losing three of the next four matches, which caused the tiebreaker.
