Nintendo announced Tuesday Fortnie would be available for thee Nintendo Switch, including cross-platform play functionality, allowing users to link up their Epic Games accounts across platforms. Unless, of course, the account has been linked to Playstation 4, as Sony is blocking any cross-platform play with the Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch versions of the game.

Many players booted up the Switch version, only to find themselves unable to log into their accounts. Those players were forced to create an entirely new account in order to play Fortnite on the Switch. One frustrated fan made a hilarious trailer about the experience.

The faux trailer perfectly captures the feeling of booting up the Switch version of Fortnite, only to find that block. Having to create a new account in order to play Fortnite on the portable console is frustrating, to say the least.

Sony previously blocked the Xbox One version of the game from cross-platform play, with Playstation's head of global sales and marketing Jim Ryan saying: "Exposing what in many cases are children to external influences we have no ability to manage or look after, it’s something we have to think about very carefully.”

Sony's blocks on cross-platform play only apply to the Xbox One and Switch versions of Fortnite.

Fortnite's Xbox and Switch versions can be played across every platform, so long as the account is not linked to a Playstation 4. If the account is only used on the PC or Mobile versions, it can be accessed on the Playstation 4 without issue.
