The Overwatch League announced two teams will represent Atlanta and Guangzhou in the next season.
The two new Overwatch League franchises were previously reported by ESPN but were officially confirmed Thursday.
"The Atlanta team is owned by Cox Enterprises, a leading communications, media, and automotive services company. Atlanta Esports Ventures -- a partnership between Cox and Province, Inc. -- will operate the team," the post read. "The Guangzhou team is owned and operated by Nenking Group, a financial and entertainment conglomerate, and owner of the Guangzhou Long Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association."
The team names and colors were not revealed, but the league mentioned it would be announced at a later date.
“We know Atlanta and Guangzhou have deeply engaged fan communities and we can’t wait to unveil their teams,” Overwatch League commissioner Nate Nanzer said.
The Overwatch League concluded its first season with the grand finals at the Barclays Center in New York, where the London Spitfire was crowned the champion.
