The Overwatch League sold the Toronto slot to Splyce and Canadian entrepreneur Michael Kimel, as part of the league's expansion for Season 2, sources told ESPN.

A group led by Kimel purchased the slot for Toronto in the Overwatch League as one of the new teams to join Season 2. The team will be operated and managed by Splyce, according to ESPN's sources. 


"The group will consist of funding from Kimel, his family -- including Westdale Properties, which is owned by Kimel's uncle Ron Kimel -- and Splyce investor OverActive Media. Splyce will own 10 percent of the team in addition to operating the group," the post read.


Splyce was previously involved in Overwatch esports but let go of its roster in 2017. Its participation in the Overwatch League will be its return to the scene since the disbandment of its team.


The Overwatch League is reportedly adding six more teams for Season 2.
